Weekly Poem - Bedtime Cat
Bedtime Cat
There’s a lump on my bed,
A bump on my bed,
A furry purry hump on my bed,
And my mother said,
“Put the cat out!”
There’s a growl outside,
A yowl outside,
A cold and lonely howl outside,
And my brother cried,
“Let the cat in!”
Write down all of the words from the poem with the ‘ump’ word chunk.
Can you think of two more words on your own with the ‘ump’ word chunk?

Watch this video to learn about the ‘magic e’ and how it can change a word.
Now we are going to try some magic! Add an ‘e’ to the end of each word you had written down. This now changes the ‘a’ in every word from a short sound to a long sound. When it is a long vowel sound it means we say the letter name instead of the letter sound. Eg c - a - n becomes c - a - ne.
Read your list of words with the magic e and long a sound. Notice how they have changed.
