AA: Interference of Sound Waves - Glow
This assignment was a group experiment about sound waves and its interference. The purpose of the experiment is to determine how frequency and interference affects sound. To do so, we used tubing connectors attached to a Y-shaped glass and funnels so that sound could travel through them to be heard through the funnels. To get accurate results, we did 4 trials with a different tuning fork per two trials. Of the two trials, one trial would be done with a pinched tube while the other is done with a released tube. This experiment has led us to discover that a sound of a higher frequency produces a higher sound. We also discovered that with a pinched tube, sound is not easily heard, representing a destructive interference. While there were some errors that occurred in our experiment, we made sure to eliminate them by redoing the trial to get accurate results. This experiment has improved my knowledge on sound waves.Â
AA: Energy to Power Electric Cars - Grow
This assignment was a research project on a chosen energy to power electric cars. My choice of energy was solar energy. The task was to create a CER based on our chosen energy to prove how it is efficient enough to power electric cars. My claim of the CER was "Solar energy is an efficient way to provide energy to electric cars with a capability of producing enough power to power the cars in New Jersey switching to electric." There were given questions to which I provided answers with research to be the evidence of the CER. I then provided reasoning in paragraph form to explain how my evidence connects with my claim. However, the question about how much electric output solar energy produces in Terawatts shows my area of needed growth as I was not able to provide an accurate result based on my research. This error will allow me to improve my researching skills since I was not able to accurately find the answer. However, this assignment demonstrates my learning of solar energy and how it could power electric cars.
