1950's Research Project - Glow
Before starting our reading of A Raisin in the Sun, it was important for us to understand what life was like in the United States to understand the context of the story better. In order to do so, we were tasked to choose and research a specific topic that relates to the 1950s. This task was a group work, as we were given the topic, Gender Roles. For our research, we created a slides presentation that includes what the gender roles were in the 1950s, their impact on society, and how they were enforced. Our presentation also included two quiz questions as the purpose of this assignment was to teach our classmates about our topic. This assignment was successful as our presentation met all expectations and shows our researching skills.
Collaborative Essay - Grow
This assignment is a collaborative essay based on our reading of A Raisin in the Sun. This collaborative essay was done by a group that was assigned. Each group needed to choose a theme and write an essay that supports the chosen theme. My group and I chose the theme of dreams as our thesis statement is, "Hansberry uses the dreams of the Younger family to show how dreams can create issues in relationships." My group did fairly well on this essay as we all answered the prompt with supporting evidence. However, what we could have done differently is support each other in each individual work we did in the essay, instead of assigning each paragraph to each group member. This way, the flow of the essay would be much smoother. Despite that, though, the essay was successful as it includes supporting evidence and active participation.
