Glow - Child Labor Research Project

This assignment was a research paper on the topic of Child Labor. While also being a research paper, we were tasked to take a stance on whether child labor is or not beneficial through an argumentative essay. Before writing the essay, I read the Declaration of Independence and outside articles for background information regarding child labor. I also gathered information and evidence for both sides of the debate to ensure there is no bias in my research, ultimately leading me to take the against child labor stance on my essay. My strengths demonstrated in this essay were my research skills as I used sufficient evidence to support my stance. I was also able to address the other side of the argument through counterclaim. This essay shows my ability to write argumentative essays and also serves as a learning experience that will be helpful in future assignments.

Grow - Industrial Revolution Project

This assignment was also a research project that was on the topic of the Industrial Revolution. With the option to choose how we wanted to present our understanding of the Industrial Revolution, I chose to demonstrate it with a collage. The theme of my collage was working conditions as I used photographs of men, women, and children that were in the labor force during the Industrial Revolution. The only thing that was lacking was the clear message that could be seen just by looking at the collage. I also feel as if I could have used pathos by evoking emotion to demonstrate the labor force. However, this assignment was a learning experience for me to better my future collages.
