Historical Narrative - Glow
For this assignment, we were tasked to write a narrative based on our chosen group of ethnic and racial minorities during the Great Depression. The group that I chose was Asian Americans so immense research was done on this group. This assignment has opened my learning of how the Great Depression affected Americans, especially minorities. What I did well on the narrative was the accuracy of what Asian Americans had to face during the Depression as my writing and punctuation skills were showcased. These strengths had led to a score of a 96/100. However, there are some things that I could have done better which is creativity and a slower ending since it was a bit rushed. Overall, this narrative was a success as I responded to the prompt and would be my best assignment in Marking Period 2.
School Segregation Essay - Grow
For this assignment, we were tasked to write an essay about the issues of school segregation in New Jersey. Research on school segregation as well as law cases that had to deal with them, was required for the essay. The essay, however, had to be more of a persuasive essay rather than an argumentative essay, so it made it quite difficult for me. In this essay, I was mostly stating facts about the history of school segregation, instead of trying to convince readers on why school segregation is an issue in New Jersey. To better improve this assignment, I would be more opinionated to have a more persuasive tone. Some strengths that were showcased were my writing and style skills. However, I would need to practice on writing persuasive essays, especially evidence and reasoning, to ensure that I would do better in the future.
