The Role of the Principal

The roles and many responsibilities of the Principal are probably not quantifiable, however, their initial administration is very important to the functioning of the school. One important role of the Principal is marked by their ability to shape and influence student’s values, perceptions, beliefs, and understanding of things (Berson, Yair, & Oreg, 2016). For example, the Principal could instill goodness within students by enforcing what is acceptable behavior or not. However, the opposite can also happen. A Principal could instill bad values. A Principal’s role is to care for ALL students, no matter what their color. In some predominantly white schools, certain minority kids could be negatively impacted because Principals in these certain school systems lack empathy and acceptance for groups that may not be in large numbers at their school (Boivin, 2021). Realizing the roles and the importance of the Principal can allow a future teacher to better understand the work environment of the school they will be working in. While this is just ONE of the Many roles of the Principal, we can conclude that the roles of the principal and the principal themself are very important.
