About Me
I am a future teacher with a passion for art. I started out by tracing Disney coloring books and gradually created my own works . I loved entering school competitions as a kid, but I fully committed to being an artist in the 5th grade. I helped paint a winter window of a café with my art teacher. I thought it was cool to see people's faces light up when they saw the window. I didn’t know what I wanted to do when I grew up but I knew I would be an artist. Later, I attended the art magnet program at Churchland High school. I had the best teachers; they were strict but supportive. I actually didn't decide to become an art teacher until a while after I graduated. All throughout high school and now I am working towards becoming an art therapist , I want to help people through art. I think with hard work I can do both careers.
What I Know
Time Management!! It's super beneficial to manage your time well, that way you won't feel rushed. It's also good to remember that everything might not go as planned.
For students:
Always ask for help and or clarification if you do not fully understand something. Even if it seems like it should be obvious to know.
What I can learn
I am open to all learning experiences and criticisms. I think everyone has something they can improve on.
Teacher i will become
I think School is to prepare students for social interaction and to gain knowledge that they will hopefully take with them throughout their lives. I would teach by both perennialism and progressivism philosophies. I want to teach critical thinking and creativity, but also classical skills. Art should be a safe space to flourish and exercise creativity. I see myself as a teacher of creative thinkers.

Hello I loved reading your story about how you got interested in art. Art teachers are very limited so that is good that you want to become a art teacher.

I think its amazing you want to be an art teacher and an art therapist, both are so important and admirable careers. My daughter has a developmental delay and could only say a handful of words at 3 years old. Art was and continues to be her safe space. Her specialty doctors encourage us to nurture her love of art because it is shown to be beneficial in developing language skills. She is only in first grade right now but I'm so excited for her to be a little older and start entering school competitions like you did.

I love the fact that you want to teach art and you want your students exercise creativity. I love your philosophies I agree that those are needed especially with art. Learning the classics of art really does help with the students future projects. I also do agree that art is a safe space.

Its awesome the journey you've had to discover you want to peruse art therapy! I had a similar experience in how I got into art education. I envy your grasp of time management, its definelty something I struggle with and still need to learn.

Hi Diamond. At this time in society, there are only a few people I know who have a true passion for art. For you to want to teach it to children is truly amazing because it helps the children learn and have the ability to express themselves in anyway they would like. Also, your page was very pleasing to look at and fun!
