WHAT IS PROGRESSIVISM ?
In progressivist education students are actively learning. The students interact with each other and develope social qualities such as cooperation and a understanding for different point of views. Students solve problems in the classroom similar to those they will encounter in their day to day lives. This theory of education first started when john locke published " some thoughts on education " in ( 1693). John locke believed that adults should take into more consideration a childs temperament and indiviual differences. Locke belived that childern were naturally curious and learned best through play and variety of different experiences.
Importance of PROGESSIVISM HELPFUL IN EDUCATION :
It emphasizes the importance of learning by encouraging students to be curious and ask questions. Progressivism stresses the need for educators to be flexible and open minded to the needs of students indiviualility. This source of education shows students how to think and also experience their voices. For teachers this allows them to shy away from standard methods of education.
