I'll just add mine here as well. I appreciate your desire to have a student-centric teaching model, even acknowledging how your students will teach you about the world through their cultures and personalities. That's something I'm understanding has to be a central focus more than I thought it would. I see you mentioning learning styles here and would suggest looking into some of the recent talk about teaching to learning styles and how it may actually be a waste of time and maybe even detrimental to the students, which I found interesting.

I think you have a great outlook on teaching and the effects it can have on students. I believe you are correct about a child's standard of learning being established in the early school years. In my opinion, all of you who want to teach at the elementary level must be brave and have the patience of a saint. I'm going to be teaching at the middle or high school level because I'm kind of a germaphobe and I think I would have regular panic attacks in an elementary classroom with all the sticky hands and boogie noses.
