Travel time to your first work assignment of the day, or back from your last work assignment of the day, is not considered work time.
If you are working at least 20 hours a week, travel time in between assignments is paid.
If you are paid by the City of Cambridge for a coaching position, you will not also be paid by Navigation Games for that job - including preparation and travel time. However, on a case-by-case basis, Navigation Games may pay for your time related to aspects that are not typically part of the job, and may subsidize necessary certifications such as First Aid and fingerprinting.
If you are an after-school teacher, we are reimbursed by the City only for your actual time teaching, and not for preparation or travel time. If on a given day your only Navigation Games work is to teach or assist at an after-school class, then (if you are not a volunteer) we pay only for the time that you are teaching, plus 15 minutes preparation time per day.
If you are doing personal things on your phone, you are not working for Navigation Games. If you are in a situation where you have time on your hands at work, please find a work-related task if you are charging your time to Navigation Games.
We do not pay for lunch or other breaks.
Log your work hours using Time Tracking at Gusto.
Please work out with your manager how you will track your time. Knowing volunteer time matters in a couple of ways. Donation of services may be eligible for tax deduction. Regardless, Navigation Games needs to know what staff time is required for delivering programs and carrying out our work. There is a spreadsheet where all volunteer time is logged.
If volunteers donate time and use their professional talents for the good of Navigation Games, Navigation Games can provide them with a letter to confirm the amount of time donated. The individual will then use this as support to write-off income, which can benefit their tax position.
CRLS students are encouraged to volunteer with local non-profits. This document should be signed and given to the volunteer, to confirm volunteer time and job.
