Standard work hours start at 9:00 a.m., and go to 5:30 p.m. (with 30 minute break for lunch) for 40-hour workers, and to 3:30 p.m. (with 30 minute break for lunch) for 30-hour workers. Schedules are adjusted to accommodate program delivery; notably, working with schools may require an earlier start. Weekly hours are determined by supervisors by Wednesday of the previous week.
Employees have one of two different time-off plans.
Hourly employees earn vacation time at a rate of 1 vacation hour for every 20 hours worked, up to a maximum of 80 hours (2 weeks) accrued per year. They earn sick time at a rate of 1 hour per every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 40 hours in a given year.
Salaried employees have an open PTO policy. Under this policy, they must request time off in advance, except in the case of emergencies.
Vacation and medical time off requests should be made in Gusto, in the "Time off" section. There is a button called "Request Time Off". Do add a description explaining the request. In addition, please let your supervisor and Jen know about your request and any additional information. In general, we aim to honor reasonable time off requests and ask that you work with Navigation Games to ensure that our work proceeds as needed.
Note that you can delete a time-off request after submitting it, and even after your manager has approved it. Both employee and manager can delete the time off request after approval.
Jen keeps track of time off at this spreadsheet in the restricted HR drive.
Starting in January 2021, Massachusetts employees may apply for Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) benefits. Navigation Games has a MassTaxConnect account and has made payroll contributions to DFML. We have registered the email address hr@navigationgames.org as the contact information for our PFML administrator. When an employee submits an application to Massachusetts, they need to be able to reach out to their employer to confirm certain details about their request. If we have any questions, we can call PFML at MassTaxConnect at (833) 344-7365 between the hours of 8 a.m - 5 p.m.
