Dear Eagle Families,
Parent-teacher conferences are right around the corner. Our goal is to meet with every parent in some way, in person, on the phone, or virtually. See below for links to sign up to meet with your child's teacher on either Thursday, October 5, or Wednesday, October 11 from 5:00 - 8:30 p.m. We encourage all of our Summerside families to connect with your child's teacher in the fall to continue to build our partnership with you to ensure your child is learning, leading, and succeeding this year.
Thank you to all who were able to join our WC Town Hall this past week. Your voice in helping to write our next chapter in West Clermont is so important. Please save the date for the next WC Town Hall at Holly Hill on Thursday, October 25th.
A SHOUT-OUT to our incredible PTO and all who were able to join the Summerside float for the WCHS Homecoming parade!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney & Ms. Lowe
Science in Second Grade
Students used "tools" to pick up "food' to put it in their "stomach". Then they discussed which tool was best and which tool was best for which food.
A reminder to parents in our car line that the left lane is reserved for breakfast eaters. Please do not start a second lane until after 9:15 a.m.
We ask that all parents follow our traffic pattern during arrival and dismissal. Some parents are parking in the lot and walking through our moving lanes causing safety concerns and delays in our flow. If you choose to park, which is not preferred as it adds to staff having to focus on more than our designed car lines to keep everyone safe, please hold back so that cars do not feel the need to stop for foot traffic and wait until both lanes are completely stopped before attempting to cross. Your children are watching you and how you follow procedures and rules as they learn to do the same at school.
Our morning car line is finished each morning at 9:25 a.m. Students are expected in the building at this time or they are considered tardy. Morning routines are important, including the socialization of just walking in with everyone. On inclement weather days, we adjust our attendance to account for longer lines but daily attendance is taken first thing in the morning and it is important your child is in school when expected every day.
During dismissal, please remain in a single lane along the right side of our driveway to allow kindergarten and first-grade families to pull along the left lane to get into their designated spots in our parking lot. Please do not create a double lane until you are actually all of the way in our parking lot.
Thank you to all who follow our procedures during arrival and dismissal every day as we work together to keep everyone safe!
We encourage all families to partner with their child's teacher during the fall conferences.
PTO is hosting a book fair during conferences on 10/5. We encourage you to celebrate your child's hard work with a special trip to the book fair that evening as all are welcome, even if your conference night is scheduled the week after.
Our mission is to commit to excellence, with every learner, every day, in every way. One way that we can do that is to help provide for your child if there is a need for food at home over the weekend. Thanks to the generosity of local organizations who work to serve our Summerside students, we are able to continue our Weekend Food Bag Program as an option for our students in need for the 2023 - 24 school year. If you are interested in your child participating in this program, and receiving a food bag at the end of each week, please complete the linked form below.
We are also fortunate to have local organizations offering Giving Tree and Holiday Food support for the holidays. Please indicate on the following form if you are interested in being connected to these agencies.

*Please note, you will need to complete this form for each child you wish to sign up for these opportunities
You can ask your first graders about how to write a sentence and what they have learned about apples this week!

The PTO October Meeting Agenda
The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Summerside! Students will be able to preview the book fair on Tuesday, October 3, and then visit the book fair with their class on a scheduled day throughout the rest of that week. A book is an outstanding way to celebrate your child's hard work and to continue to encourage the joy of reading!
The book fair will also be open the night of conferences on Thursday, 10/5, 5:00 - 8:30 pm, and all are welcome, even if you are conferencing on 10/5! Only volunteers will be permitted into the book fair during the normal school day. Parents who wish to shop with their children are encouraged to attend during the evening hours.
Thank you to our PTO for taking the lead on this opportunity for our students and families!
We hope you can join us for our second skating party of the school year on Monday, October 9 from 6:30 - 8:30!
