Dear Summerside Eagle Families,
The last month of the school year is upon us and how time flies when having fun!! Our students have been working hard in all grades to continue to focus on mastering grade-level standards and skills. In grades, 3 - 5, students are wrapping up their Ohio State Tests in ELA, Math, and Science (5th graders only) this coming week. Every student should be proud of how much they focused and did their best on each test! All students, grades K - 5, will begin the spring benchmark assessments in the next week or so where we gather insight into their literacy growth throughout the year to ensure we are meeting their needs and to plan forward for next year. You can ask your child about how hard they worked on their state test and about what they read for their benchmark assessments that will begin the week of April 29. We will share the results with parents as the assessment window closes.
Students are continuing to learn, lead, and succeed with exciting times ahead for Summerside as we welcome Preschool Pups to Summerside next year! We will be adding two preschool classrooms to Summerside for the 2024 - 2025 school year. We encourage all students who will be 5 years of age on or before 8/1/2024 to enroll their child in kindergarten. Parents of students in grades K - 11 this school year should look for registration emails to be sent soon as well. Here's to a great last month of school together!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney & Ms. Lowe
West Clermont High School Makes U.S. News List of Best High Schools
CINCINNATI (April 25, 2024) — West Clermont High School was ranked 4,878 nationally, 179 in the state and 33 in the Cincinnati metro area in U.S. News & World Report’s list of best high schools released earlier this week.
The national ranking places West Clermont High School in the top 40% of high schools in the country out of nearly 18,000. This also makes the school eligible to display the U.S. News 2024 Best High School award badge.
Schools are ranked based on student performance on state-required tests, graduation rates and how well they prepare students for college.
“We are so proud of this achievement,” said Superintendent Natasha Adams. “This highlights all of the incremental improvements we’ve made over the last several years. In collaboration with our teachers, families and community partners, we are providing more future-focused programming for our high school students and are recommitting to knowing every student’s name, story, strengths and needs so they are successful no matter their pathway.”
About West Clermont: West Clermont School District commits to excellence with every learner, every day and in every way. Its vision is that together as one community, we learn, lead and succeed. The district believes that together we are ON THE RISE and values strengthening relationships, cultivating innovation, being relentlessly student-centered and fostering empowerment.

First graders enjoyed a beautiful day at the Cincinnati Nature Center!
Dear Summerside Families,
We have officially finished our fourth-grade virtual program which is titled "All Things Sweet." There are so many wonderful things to celebrate with this performance and we are excited for you to watch it! I'm so glad our students were able to get the valuable experience of preparing for a program, performing individual skills as a class and performing as a whole grade as well. They did an excellent job putting this together and they have grown a lot as musicians through this experience!
Below you will find the link for the virtual performance. Please note that although this is a YouTube link, it's a private unlisted link that can only be accessed if you have the exact link I am sending out. Therefore, if you try to search for the program in the public search bar - it will not show up. Feel free to share this link with family members and friends as you see fit, but rest easy knowing it's not a performance for any stranger to look up and view.
Now without further ado, please feel free to find a sweet treat as you sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!

Leader in Me Surveys
Our district is implementing a whole-district transformational process called Leader in Me, which teaches 21st-century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader. Our school will be conducting the Leader in Me Measurable Results Assessment (surveys) to learn more about key areas of strength and needed growth in our school. In order for us to have a holistic picture of what is going on in our school, we are asking staff members, parents/guardians, and students in Grade 4 and up to complete surveys.
Students will be asked to complete the brief surveys during the week of May 13th. If you would like to review the survey questions, email Jen Taylor at taylor_jennifer@my.westcler.org. If you would like to opt your student out of taking the survey, complete this “Google Form.” We hope you can encourage your child to participate in this survey. Their voices matter.
West Clermont families and staff,
We are pleased to share that the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce announced last week that West Clermont School District is a 2022-2023 Momentum Award winner! In addition, West Clermont Middle School and Willowville Elementary also received this same award.

Awardees must improve their Performance Index by 3 or more points over the previous year’s Report Card and receive a Progress rating of 4 or more stars. Out of over 600 school districts in the state of Ohio, West Clermont is one of only 42 districts to receive the Momentum Award.
