Dear Summerside Eagle Families,
This past week was filled with SO MUCH appreciation from our incredible PTO who provided so many opportunities to honor and celebrate the hard work that our AMAZING teachers and staff put forth every day to make a difference in your child's life. Thank you to all who participated with thoughtful cards and sentiments of gratitude and with all of the treats and special touches our PTO provided all week long. We believe it takes a village and as you look through pictures of our celebrations from this past week, we hope you are as proud of our Summerside community as we are every day, in every way!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney & Ms. Lowe
P.S. Be sure to keep scrolling down as we will continue to add district and community opportunities that have tight timelines for application. Also, be sure to re-register your child ASAP - see below for a whole school and grade level incentive on Field Day!
Grade-level newsletters will be updated every two weeks.
Our Discover team newsletter will be updated quarterly.
Parent/Guardian Input Needed
Our district is implementing a whole-district transformational process called Leader in Me, which teaches 21st-century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader. Parent input is needed. Please complete the following survey to help us learn more about areas of strength and needed growth in our school (Leader in Me Measurable Results Assessment -Survey).
Please complete the survey using the link below. The survey is completely voluntary, but we do hope to get feedback from one member of every household. The survey takes about 10-12 minutes to complete and will ask questions about your child and about his or her experience in our school. If you have more than one child attending the school building, think about the oldest child's experiences as you answer questions.

Please complete survey by: 5/24/24.
Every year we celebrate our hard work together with a lot of fun and celebration throughout the entire day. This event is planned and scheduled by our staff and supported by our PTO. Field day is attended by students and staff only unless you are signed up to volunteer below. It is important to note that volunteers are serving at stations throughout the day and are not scheduled with individual classrooms or students.

2024 - 2025, Here we come!
It's Re-Registration Time! All currently enrolled West Clermont families received a re-registration email this past week to update their child(ren)'s information for the 2024 - 2025 school year. Summerside is currently at a 15% completion rate, this includes our fifth graders heading into the middle school next year.
We also encourage all students who will be 5 years of age on or before 8/1/2024 to enroll their child in kindergarten.
Why do our enrollment/re-registration numbers matter? They help us plan for the new school year, including classroom placement, hiring, ordering, and overall organization.

Leader in Me Surveys
Our district is implementing a whole-district transformational process called Leader in Me, which teaches 21st-century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader. Our school will be conducting the Leader in Me Measurable Results Assessment (surveys) to learn more about key areas of strength and needed growth in our school. In order for us to have a holistic picture of what is going on in our school, we are asking staff members, parents/guardians, and students in Grade 4 and up to complete surveys.
Students will be asked to complete the brief surveys during the week of May 13th. If you would like to review the survey questions, email Jen Taylor at taylor_jennifer@my.westcler.org. If you would like to opt your student out of taking the survey, complete this “Google Form.” We hope you can encourage your child to participate in this survey. Their voices matter.
West Clermont families and staff,
We are pleased to share that the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce announced last week that West Clermont School District is a 2022-2023 Momentum Award winner! In addition, West Clermont Middle School and Willowville Elementary also received this same award.
The award recognizes the achievements of Ohio’s school districts and individual school buildings for improvements made on the School Report Card. Awardees must improve their Performance Index by 3 or more points over the previous year’s Report Card and receive a Progress rating of 4 or more stars. Out of over 600 school districts in the state of Ohio, West Clermont is one of only 42 districts to receive the Momentum Award.
