Dear Summerside Eagle Families,
Happy New Year! We kicked off 2024 with smiles and hugs as students and staff were happy to be back together again at Summerside after our extended holiday break! Many classrooms took time to reflect on the first part of the school year, conferencing with students to review their learning progress with them to help set goals and resolutions for themselves as learners and leaders in our building.
During this past week, we held Town Hall meetings with our Third, Fourth, and Fifth graders to reflect on their progress so far this school year and review expectations in how they will take care of themselves, others, and Summerside (and the world around them). Be sure to ask your child about their goals for the remainder of the school year. What do they need to focus their learning on to be independent readers, mathematicians, scientists, etc.? What steps do they need to take now to set the foundation for our Portrait of a Graduate outcomes and the life they want to have one day? We look forward to continuing our partnership to ensure our students are learning, leading, and succeeding. Here's to an exciting 2024 together!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney & Ms. Lowe

Winter Weather and School Closings
As we move into wintertime, it is important for everyone to be prepared in the event we would have to close our schools due to weather issues. We encourage you to check out the article on our website entitled, "How Emergency Weather Decisions Are Made in West Clermont."
West Clermont 'Focus on Facilities' Town Hall Series
At our next series of Town Halls, we will be turning our focus to the school buildings in West Clermont. During these Town Hall events, we will examine the changing needs in facilities as well as the challenges of aging buildings, limited space, and the need for modern learning environments for our students. Through the Town Hall process, we will establish a Community Advisory Team that will assist the district in the formation of a Master Facilities Plan that is educationally appropriate, financially responsible, and community-supported. Make sure your voice is heard! Join us on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at West Clermont Middle School (1341 Clough Pike, Batavia, OH 45103). The Town Hall will begin at 6 PM.
