Dear Eagle Families,
Thank you to all who were able to attend fall conferences as we work together in our collective commitment to excellence with every learner, every day, every way. We encourage you to continue to stay in touch with your child's teacher so that we may partner with and support your child's growth.
Looking ahead...
We encourage all to join us at Merwin Elementary at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 10/17, for a tour of their facility.
The Summerside Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) team earned the Silver Ohio State Award and will be honored at the October 17th West Clermont School Board Meeting at Merwin Elementary at 7:00 p.m.
Our PTO Spooktacular is this Friday evening, 10/20! Please send in a bag of candy for our annual Trick-or-Treat fun with the Teachers from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.!
We hope all enjoy their extended fall break and look forward to your child returning to school on Tuesday, October 17, 2023!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney & Ms. Lowe

Grade-level newsletters will be updated every two weeks.
Our Discover team newsletter will be updated quarterly.
Kindergarteners reading and writing!
Ms. Powell has completed the first part of her student teaching assignment in the 5th grade; She will work with Kindergarten after fall break!
Our third graders will be taking the fall Ohio State Test for English Language Arts (ELA) the week of October 23. There will be two days of testing for each part of the test with our students working hard to slow down, read each part, and answer each question with attention to detail. Please ensure your child is on time on test days, ready to do their best work.
All third, fourth, and fifth graders will take the state tests in ELA, and Math, and Science in fifth grade, in the spring to continue to measure their progress and growth in both subjects through the years. Here are resources from the Ohio Department of Education that provide insight into the content of these tests and give the opportunity for additional practice at home. The results of the third-grade fall test will be shared with parents as soon as they arrive.
Our mission is to commit to excellence, with every learner, every day, in every way. One way that we can do that is to help provide for your child if there is a need for food at home over the weekend. Thanks to the generosity of local organizations who work to serve our Summerside students, we are able to continue our Weekend Food Bag Program as an option for our students in need for the 2023 - 24 school year. If you are interested in your child participating in this program, and receiving a food bag at the end of each week, please complete the linked form below.
We are also fortunate to have local organizations offering Giving Tree and Holiday Food support for the holidays. Please indicate on the following form if you are interested in being connected to these agencies.

2023 West Clermont Student Safety and Wellness Survey
October is School Safety Month in Ohio, and West Clermont will be administering a brief, anonymous, and optional school safety survey to 5th thru 12th grade students in our district the week of October 23rd. The goal of this survey is to capture student perspectives on school safety. The results of this survey will guide our ongoing work to create a safe, supportive, collaborative learning environment where every student has a sense of belonging. If you would like to review the student survey questions, please email info@westcler.org. If you would like to opt your student out of the survey, please complete this form. We hope you can encourage your child to participate in this survey. Their voices matter.
In addition, we are inviting you to participate in a parents and guardians version of the School Safety & Wellness Survey. Your feedback and insights are invaluable, and we hope you can take a few minutes to complete the survey. The link to the parent/guardian version of the survey is https://www.research.net/r/WCParents.
