Dear Summerside Eagle Families,
Time flies when working hard, learning a lot, and having fun!! It is hard to believe we are entering our last week of school together. We have a LOT to celebrate in all your children have achieved this school year. Look for benchmark assessment reports to come home this week.
We have a packed week ahead with Field Day scheduled for Wednesday, May 22nd, rain or shine! Our students will embark on a day filled with fun activities, team-building exercises, and plenty of outdoor adventures.
As part of the festivities, we want to inform you that some activities may involve water play. To ensure your child's comfort and enjoyment throughout the day, you are welcome to send in the following items (with their name on them) with your child if you choose:
Towel: For drying off after water activities.
Change of Clothes: In case their attire gets wet during the day.
Change of Shoes: If necessary, to switch into dry footwear.
Water Bottle: Staying hydrated is crucial, so please send your child with a water bottle labeled with their name.
Sunscreen: As we'll be spending time outdoors, sunscreen application before the event and, if needed, providing them with sunscreen for reapplication during the day is recommended.
All students will be eating a picnic lunch on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. We encourage all to pack their lunches this day or order a packed lunch from the cafeteria, they will have the following options: Deli sandwich, cheese sandwich, or EZ jammer.
We appreciate your support, and look forward to the many celebrations ahead!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney & Ms. Lowe

Parent/Guardian Input Needed
Our district is implementing a whole-district transformational process called Leader in Me, which teaches 21st-century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader. Parent input is needed. Please complete the following survey to help us learn more about areas of strength and needed growth in our school (Leader in Me Measurable Results Assessment -Survey).
Please complete the survey using the link below. The survey is completely voluntary, but we do hope to get feedback from one member of every household. The survey takes about 10-12 minutes to complete and will ask questions about your child and about his or her experience in our school. If you have more than one child attending the school building, think about the oldest child's experiences as you answer questions.

Please complete survey by: 5/24/24.
Every year we celebrate our hard work together with a lot of fun and celebration throughout the entire day. This event is planned and scheduled by our staff and supported by our PTO. Field day is attended by students and staff only unless you are signed up to volunteer below. It is important to note that volunteers are serving at stations throughout the day and are not scheduled with individual classrooms or students.

2024 - 2025, Here we come!
It's Re-Registration Time! All currently enrolled West Clermont families received a re-registration email this past week to update their child(ren)'s information for the 2024 - 2025 school year. Summerside is currently at a 15% completion rate, this includes our fifth graders heading into the middle school next year.
We also encourage all students who will be 5 years of age on or before 8/1/2024 to enroll their child in kindergarten.
Why do our enrollment/re-registration numbers matter? They help us plan for the new school year, including classroom placement, hiring, ordering, and overall organization.

NEW: Understanding School Finance Video Series
Through our town halls, surveys, and community engagement, we’ve learned that it’s critical that we provide more information to you about West Clermont finances. That’s why we have launched a nine part video series that will provide the community with a better understanding of how West Clermont is funded, what we spend money on, and how we have worked hard to provide transparency, accountability, and fiscal excellence.
We encourage you to watch our kickoff video where our Treasurer Romano provides a broad overview of how West Clermont is funded. Check out our first video here!
Additionally, we'll soon be launching a new section on our website that will provide detailed information about the topics discussed in these videos. Stay tuned!
Join Mrs. Courtney on our Summerside Eagle Team at our annual WC Education Foundation Fun Run!!

West Clermont families and staff,
We are pleased to share that the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce announced last week that West Clermont School District is a 2022-2023 Momentum Award winner! In addition, West Clermont Middle School and Willowville Elementary also received this same award.
The award recognizes the achievements of Ohio’s school districts and individual school buildings for improvements made on the School Report Card. Awardees must improve their Performance Index by 3 or more points over the previous year’s Report Card and receive a Progress rating of 4 or more stars. Out of over 600 school districts in the state of Ohio, West Clermont is one of only 42 districts to receive the Momentum Award.
