Use one or more of the following ideas for entertainment. Customize and choose those that are best suited for your community:
Pie eating contest: Order plenty of 6 or 9 inch pumpkin pies for the contest as well as whipped cream. Rules of the contest: Contestants will be given 1 whole pie. Hands are not to be used during the contest to consume the pie. Winner is the person who finishes first or has eaten most of the pie. Winner gets a prize of your choice!
Cornhole tournament: Use a few sets for your residents. If you need more, these are easy to find locally and online by searching for “Cornholes game set”.
Hard cider tasting: Purchase 5 different brands of hard cider for the tasting. Order some simple note cards and pens, so residents can take notes. Ask residents to vote for their top choice using a Cobu poll. Then reveal the winning hard cider the next day. Award six packs to one or more entrants if you like.
▢ Source Food & Drink
You have many food options. Pick any from the list:
Funnel cakes are always popular. Search online for a food truck or vendor who offers funnel cakes. Food Truck Booking and ezCater may be good resources.
Apple cider donuts are a popular treat if these are available in your area.
Apple pies and ice cream from your local store or bakery.
Apple cider and mulled apple cider from your local store or order online.
Let your residents create their own ‘spiked spice’ drinks. Purchase rum, whiskey, bourbon, and/or brandy.
Order additional alcoholic drinks through a delivery service like Uber Eats or source them through the local beverage store. Estimate 2 alcoholic drinks per attendee and ensure you have non-alcoholic options available as well.
▢ Set Up the Event
Set up tables and chairs for residents to enjoy the fun.
Set up cornhole sets and tables for the hard cider tasting and/or pie eating contest.
Set up a table exclusively for drinks.
Provide non-breakable cups, plates, and utensils. Purchase plenty of small cups for the hard cider tasting.
