▢ Source Vendor & Supplies:
Option A: Reach out to your local seafood restaurant or market and ask if they'd be open to hosting a private oyster shucking class. Search online for “oyster shucking class” to discover more local instructor options.
Check with the vendor on any supplies that will be needed at the event, such as ice buckets, towels, platters, etc.
Option B: Host your own oyster shucking class by purchasing oyster shucking kits to be shared by the residents. Review instructions in the kits so you can guide residents in the shucking technique. There are also online tutorials you can view and show residents during the class. Supplies needed to host a DIY class:
Oyster shucking knives
Oyster shucking gloves
Chef’s knife
Lemons
Hot sauce
Mignonette sauce
Oysters (can be ordered online or locally)
Small bowls for sauces
Plates
Ice
▢ Source Drinks:

▢ Set Up the Event:
Set up a table for the oyster shucking demonstration. Instruct residents to gather around the table at their own shucking stations.
Ensure you have multiple trash and recycling receptacles available throughout the common space.
Set up a bluetooth speaker to play an existing playlist or have residents contribute to a shared playlist on a service like Spotify.
