The Mira Chatbot Questions page allows you to manage the interview questions that the Mira chatbot asks applicants during the hiring process. These questions are presented conversationally by the chatbot, and applicant responses are used to support personality and behavioral insights.
This page controls what Mira asks applicants, but it does not control how results are displayed.
Tip: Most hiring teams start with the standard Mira questions and add 3–5 custom questions for role-specific insights.
Mira Chatbot Questions are interview-style questions asked by the Mira chatbot during an applicant conversation. Applicants respond in their own words, and Mira records those responses as part of the interview flow.
The quality of these questions directly affects the usefulness of the insights generated.
Mira organizes chatbot questions into two categories: built-in questions and customizable questions.
Mira uses two types of questions:
Standard Questions are pre-built questions provided by HRGP.
Available to all customers
Automatically included in Mira interviews
Require no setup or configuration
Provide a consistent baseline across applicants
If you do not add any custom questions, Mira will still ask these standard questions.
Custom Questions allow you to add your own interview questions to the Mira chatbot.
From this page, you can:
Add new custom questions
Edit existing custom questions
Remove custom questions
Assign questions to specific positions
Custom questions are asked in addition to the standard questions.
Custom Mira questions can be made position-specific, meaning:
Different roles can have different chatbot questions
Applicants are only asked questions relevant to the position they applied for
Interviews stay focused and efficient
Examples:
Sales roles → motivation and resilience
Technician roles → independence and routine
Leadership roles → decision-making and collaboration
On the Mira Chatbot Questions page, you can manage both standard and custom questions.
View all standard questions (read-only)
Create and manage custom questions
Assign custom questions to specific positions
Changes apply the next time an applicant interacts with the Mira chatbot. Previously completed interviews are not affected.
Strong questions:
Are open-ended
Encourage thoughtful responses
Reveal behavior, preferences, or working style
Feel conversational, not like a test
Examples of strong questions:
“Do you prefer to work independently or as part of a team?”
“How do you typically handle repetitive or routine tasks?”
“What motivates you to do your best work?”
“When things don’t go as planned, how do you usually respond?”
“Do you prefer clear structure or flexibility in your workday?”
Weak questions:
Invite yes/no answers
Are vague or leading
Encourage self-labeling instead of behavior
Provide little insight
Examples of weak questions:
“Are you a hard worker?”
“Do you have good communication skills?”
“Are you responsible?”
“Do you like people?”
“Would you say you’re motivated?”
Ask how or what, not are you
Focus on behavior and preferences
Keep questions simple and conversational
Ask one idea per question
Avoid personality-test language
Below are example question sets you can use or adapt when creating position-specific Mira questions.
