Course overview - Study Period 5 and 6
During both of these study periods, C9 learners will be using extracts from Victorian Literature as a basis for their study.
In the first half term, they will be using these with a reading focus. They will read short extracts from a variety of writers and use them to read for meaning, comment on language and structure and interpret ideas. They will evaluate how well a writer has conveyed their ideas and continue forming their own opinions, based on what they have read.
In the second half term, learners will be using these extracts to inspire their own writing. They will use different extracts to experiment with writing in different styles, tones and structures. They will explore a variety of vocabulary usage and consider how structure (punctuation, sentencing and paragraphs) can change or influence meaning. They will also undertake their GCSE speaking and listening component at this time.
