Course overview - Study Period 3 and 4
During the first half term, study period 3, learners will finish the Unit “Marketing” with learning sessions teaching exam technique, revision methods and revisiting the content taught last term. At the end of January, learners will commence studying their second unit of work “Business in the Real World”. Before half-term, learners will understand the different types of business ownership that can be set up and the reasons why entrepreneurs choose to start a business.
During the second half term, study period 4, learners will continue with the Unit “Business in the Real World”. Topics covered include setting business aims and objectives, and the purpose of them. Understanding who the main stakeholders of a business are, and the impact and influence different stakeholders have on a business. The remaining three topics are factors influencing the location decision of a business, the purpose of a business plan and what the main sections are. The final topic is based on expanding a business with some investigation into economies and diseconomies of scale.

Week 17 (9th January) - End of Unit Summative Assessment - learners will experience past paper GCSE questions that directly link to the Marketing Unit of Work.
Week 23 (27th February) - Mid-unit Summative Assessment - Business in the Real World - Business Ownership and Purpose/Nature of Business
Guidance:
Learners will receive guidance in a variety of ways. These include marked assessments, reports, verbal feedback, written feedback in books, 1:1 interaction, Google Classroom and whole class feedback.
