Course overview - Study Period 2 - Hansel and Gretel
This is the second GCSE Drama session in C9, learners will be introduced to the story of the traditional fairytale Hansel and Gretel, but with a twist. This particular script version was written by Carl Grose purposely for the Drama company Kneehigh, which was based in Cornwall but also had a very successful touring history also. We will begin by looking at what makes them a success, and what skills are needed to become a company. Eventually, deciding on our own Drama company name and the values we will live by to help us become successful. Our aim is to re-create two key moments within the script, using our own design ideas. This performance will be assessed towards the end of these 14 sessions but will also be used in the Christmas concert. In the last 3 sessions, learners will be watching and reviewing the live theatre performance of Romeo and Juliet from the National theatre streaming site.
