Course overview - C9 GCSE
In theory lessons (2 per fortnight) learning for the first half term will cover the Healthy Active Lifestyles topic. This topic includes sports nutrition, benefits of exercise and drugs and alcohol in sport. During the second half term learners will move onto the Body systems topic which includes: the skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular and respiratory systems; the components of each system and the effects of exercise.
In practical lessons (2 per fortnight) learners will cover badminton in the first half term and Futsal or Netball in the second half term. Learners will be developing more advanced techniques and focus on strategies to win when playing games.

Assessment Points:
One practical skills and gameplay assessment per half term.
A theory end of unit assessment and a midpoint assessment completed for each topic.
Guidance:
Learners will receive, mainly, verbal guidance throughout each practical session linked to the practical performance criteria.They will also receive a mark out of 35 for their practical sport per half term.
For theory lessons a mid point assessment and end of unit assessment (per theory unit) will be marked, graded and WWW/EBI given for each assessment.
