Student Union

Poon Ian

president of SU

Hello everyone! Hope everyone is doing fine during this new year. I am Ian Poon, the Chairperson of the Student Union.

I know it is stressful for you who is unable to get back to school and meet your friends, looking at your screen all day with lots of homework. I understand that as I have been through that as well. If you are facing any problems, please feel free to share with us. We are here to support you!

During these hard times, we all must keep a positive attitude towards our adversities. Just like how our teachers talk about how to keep a growth mindset. It is important for us when we are all stressed out and worn out by months and months of quarantine.

Let me tell you how I overcame this. I was bored to death with all this online learning, but then my dad told me to read more books especially Chinese as I am not very good at it. I was complaining at first, but then I understand what my dad meant. I explored the wonders of literature and was amazed about the use of vocabulary and sentence structures. It is nice to pick up something to relieve your stress, like playing sports!

Lastly, I hope that I can see you soon at the campus!

Hong Marcus

Dear my fellow schoolmates,

I hope you're doing well and staying healthy. I am Marcus Hong, the Vice-Chairperson of the Student Union.

I know it is an extremely hard and challenging time for all of you. I think one thing we need to remember is that we are never alone. Staying home sometimes makes me feel trapped and stressful. I feel worried when I hear the news about the increasing number of Covid-19 cases. I miss my teachers and classmates so much that I am eager to go to school to meet them and have face-to-face lessons together. Please remember it is natural if you have this bad feeling. I suggest you talk to your parents, teachers and friends because it will make you feel better. Also, I and my SU teammates will always be here for you if you want someone to talk to.

Now we are spending more time at home, so we can make use of this opportunity to get fit and healthy. You can do some fitness workouts and family games at home. This not only makes you healthier, but also makes you build stronger family relationships. Every day, I do PE warm up dancing with my sister at home. You can do "Raining Tacos Dance" and search it on YouTube. I also play Monopoly, Flying Chess and Card games with my family. It's so much fun and healthy.

After the long hours of online lessons and staring at a computer screen, your bodies and eyes may feel tired. In my experience, I always take a break between each online lesson. I walk around at home and look out the window to relax my body and eyes. If your computer screen is too bright, please check your computer setting and make sure "Night Light" is on. I hope this information can help you and make you stay healthy.

Last but not least, we always have to think positive and stay strong. There must be an ending for the Covid-19 pandemic, and we will meet each other face-to-face at A-school very soon.

Warmest regards,

Marcus Hong
