A-School always provides various opportunities for students to cultivate the sense of responsibility, sharpening their leadership skills, and supporting them to learn as well as to develop their potential to the fullest. We thus encourage students to take up a diverse range of student leadership positions, so they can learn and grow while they serve.

The Inauguration Ceremony of Service and Leadership Teams (PS) 2020-21 was successfully held on 11 Nov 2020. Our Senior Vice-Principal (Primary Division) Ms. Jackie Chong witnessed the oath taking by all the representatives of student and service leaders. Dr. Ruby Tai, the Assistant Principal (Student Development) of Primary Division delivered the speech of 7 habits of being a Student Leader which are being proactive, having a plan, putting first thing first, thinking win-win, listening before you talk, synergizing and sharpening the saw. In addition, the student representatives of the teams received the certificates and badges from the teacher-in-charge.

Last but not the least, G6C Ian Poon, Chairperson of Student Union, also spoke to everyone about his serving mission in Student Union this year. He promised all student leaders will do their best to create a teacher-student friendly school.

We believe all student leaders will act as role models in A-School and they must flourish others with passion and compassion.

Our student leadership programmes build on a 3-level model of advancement support. The basic level of the model starts with holistic leadership development programmes for all students based on volunteering and nomination basis. These include uniform groups, community services, Outward Bound, Public Speaking programmes and etc.

Students’ leadership skills are further enhanced through the leadership experiences from our school-based leadership groups in the second level of our model. Students are encouraged to take part in a diverse range of student leadership positions through election, screening or teacher nomination. Student leaders in A-School are allowed to learn and grow with the virtues of servant leaders while they serve their school and community. Student Union, Houses, and Prefects are some of the many leadership teams in our second level of the advancement model. The five houses of our primary division : Justice, Wisdom, Kindness, Courtesy, and Faith, symbolize the values and character strengths A-School upholds. Student Union connects all students with the school authority to further the well-being and sense of belonging of our students. These student bodies are led by student leaders elected by all students and teachers through an open voting mechanism.

At the top of the model is our top-tier student leadership training programme, Excel 33P, which specialises in equipping students with essential qualities, skills and experiences needed for excellent leadership.The programme offers activities of various domains, namely Iron Excel, Intellectual Excel and Envoy & Service Excel. These domains provide training on students’ physical fitness, social experience and community engagement, providing them with the opportunities to have up close and personal meeting with outliers and preparing them to be servant leaders and role models of A-School.

In order to enhance students’ leadership skills and sense of responsibility, and to encourage students to participate in school, A-School has set up a number of leadership teams in different aspects to develop students’ different potentials. We are now inviting interested students to join the House Captains and Committee election 2020-21.
