New Year Greetings

Greetings from Head Boy

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone is doing well even though we might be going through a tough time during this arduous battle with the coronavirus.

As students, we need to maintain a good learning attitude. I am sure we might get a little lethargic compared to time before the pandemic. Therefore, for the new year, I hope everyone can set goals for yourself, and try your best to achieve them.

My new year resolution is to have a positive mindset. According to an experiment conducted by Marcin Zajenkowski of the University of Warsaw and research partner Gilles Gignac of the University of Western Australia, humans will get angry and furious under stress. We are operating with 10 to 15 less IQ points when we are angry. Therefore, thinking positively will help keep us calm, and as a result, we can be more efficient with our time. A positive mindset can speed up our working progress, and leave more time for us to relax and play. Finding time to chill out will surely help us stay focused and motivated. When we take a break, we can usually return to our task with a renewed focus and a fresh perspective.

Furthermore, I strongly encourage students to set up a timetable. Jot down your daily tasks and work towards achieving them. After that, you can do something you enjoy doing as a reward or as encouragement!

Finally, I am looking forward to see you all back at school after the coronavirus is under control in Hong Kong. Stay healthy, stay safe!

Hello everyone!

2020 was supposed to be a great year, yet with the coronavirus spreading all around the world, it turned out to be quite an unpleasant year. I am really happy that 2020 is finally gone, and it’s time to draw ourselves a conclusion for the year and think about our new year’s resolutions. Let me share two of mine with you all!

First of all, I would like to be more organized. As a procrastinator, I often delay or put off tasks until the last minute. However, after months of online learning, I realize the importance of exercising self-control and self-discipline. Therefore, this year I am determined to overcome procrastination. By breaking the tasks down into small steps, I will be able to enhance my productivity. Also, I would make myself plans and set deadlines for them. I believe that in this way, I can take control on getting things done and achieve my goals.

My second new year’s resolution is to achieve better grades in all subjects, especially Math. The things that we are learning in Grade 6 are much harder compared to Grade 5. I find it pretty tough to maintain my grades, not to mention make improvements. However, I would like to rise to the challenge in my final year in primary school and do my best. It is a challenge to stay focused and be motivated all the time during the outbreak of Covid-19, yet I am ready to devote myself to studying, and make my parents proud of what I can achieve.

2020 was a tough year and I sincerely hope that 2021 will be a better one. I hope we can say goodbye to social distancing, school suspension and the high mortality rate across the globe. As the old saying goes, “The way to accomplish your dreams is not through more inspiration but daily, focused action.”

Lastly, I wish everyone in A-School a happy new year!
