Enjoy a well-deserved break from school. Encourage your kids to unplug if they can, and spend some time enjoying some quality non-screen time.
We are so proud of the work your kids have done this semester. Time has certainly flown by! Thank you for your part in their success. It is certainly a team effort!
Don't forget that students return to classes on Tuesday, January 5. We hope they (and we) will be rested and eager to get back into learning!
Students completed and should have submitted the rough drafts for their personal narrative this week.
Happy holidays and have a most marvelous break building "family time" memories.
Phew! We've made it through 1st semester together! Students have completed their narrative this week and are ready for a well-deserved break! When we return from break, we will switch our focus to informational texts.
Happy Holidays!
Wow! What a fantastic first semester. The students hit the ground running in August, and have continued to put their best foot forward. They have matured as remote learners, and have come into their own as good class citizens. It has truly been a joy to work with these wonderful kids. I can't wait to see what they will do next semester!
We wrapped up our study of the Lithosphere which included contour maps, topography, watersheds, water pollution, porosity, and permeability. When we return in January, we will dive into our study of the Atmosphere. Stay tuned for some fun conversations about their learning!
Woohoo! We have finished the semester strong! We have learned so much this semester! We started the year with waves, then went to heat transfer. We have explored the Earth's spheres and spent a ton of time in the Hydrosphere. We learned how to read topographic maps and where our water comes from. It has been so great getting to know my students and watching them grow, even through a screen!
We will jump into the atmosphere when we get back from break!
These last days, we have been working on a science escape room! This focuses on science skills like finding density, heat transfer, and biology. But also works on collaboration and communication! Check out second period working hard to ESCAPE:
This week was a whirlwind, not unlike the semester! I think most of us are glad to add 2020 to the pages of history. I have been very impressed with the social media projects that I have seen so far, and I have been given some excellent feedback from the students on what they would like to see in class next semester. When we return, we will finish up the fall of the Roman Empire, and start into the Rise of Christianity and Islam. Your students have done a wonderful job of persevering through an unprecedented year. They have earned this break. I hope you and your families have a wonderful holiday season full of peace and good cheer.
What a great first semester - love these kids! We had fun this week playing Kahoot and Scattergories and wrapping up the Roman Republic. When we return, we will dive back into Rome to learn more about the Roman Empire and the enduring impacts of Roman ingenuity. Have a wonderful break full of rest and relaxation. Stay safe and healthy :)
When we return from Break, we will start with Circles and Ratios, then move on to Angles/Triangles.

I can't believe this is the end of the semester and the end of our general music class. I have loved getting to know these students and making music with them everyday. We wrapped up our class this week by talking about family culture and the students shared music that is a part of their family's culture and traditions. Thank you for welcoming me to Karrer. I have loved every minute. Have a wonderful break!
