The Friday Funday Interest Groups are for all 7th grade Remote Learning Academy students at Grizzell and Karrer. Although this is optional, we'd love to see a lot of kids participate!

FRIDAY FUNDAYs are opportunties for students to get together and mingle with other students that share the same interest. In many cases, students are there to learn something new. In other cases, students are there to share what they know with others. Students will utilize Google Meet Breakout Rooms to share ideas, talk together, and explore similar interests.

Teachers will be present in the Meet, but are there as participants. Students will take the leadership role and decide what direction to go as a group within the topic. You may want to just talk with each other, or you may want to learn and create!

The Google Meet codes are listed beneath the title in the interest groups below. Use the Meet Code at 2:00 every Friday to get into your group's Google Meet. A teacher will be there to get you started and help if you need breakout rooms.

Friday Funday Interest groups will happen every Friday. Groups will meet from 2:00-2:30 each week. The first round is from October 30 - November 20. The second round is from December 4 - 11. Depending on the success of our Friday Funday, we hope to continue offering topics throughout the year.

These are some "norms" we want to agree upon...

1. • Unmute microphones.

   • Unmute video.

   • Be respectful.

   • Be brave and try new things!

   • Teachers aren't leading - Take a leadership role & share what you know.

   • Be a good digital citizen.

   • Follow up on promises/commitments.

   • Come at 2:00 and stay the whole time (2:30).

   • You can try a different group each week, or stay with the same topic.

It's all about making connections and having fun!

Remote Learning Academy students travel from class to class with mostly the same kids all day, and since you're not physically at school, it's difficult to mix with other kids. To give you an opportunity to connect with other students, we are going to hold FRIDAY FUNDAY Interest Groups for our 7th grade GMS/KMS Remote Learning Academy.
