Dear Clifton Family,
As we come to the end of another term, I find myself filled with gratitude for the many blessings we’ve witnessed over the past few months. Our campus has been alive with the energy and enthusiasm of children who are not only growing in knowledge and skills but are also discovering more about who they are and the unique purpose God has for each of them.
Dear Clifton Families,
Over the past couple of weeks, we had the privilege of hosting two remarkable groups that reminded us of our school’s rich history and the legacy we continue to build. First, we welcomed the Old Boys group from the 1960s, followed by the reunion of the Cliftonian Class of 2019. These gatherings were not just celebrations of the past but powerful reminders of the enduring spirit that defines our Clifton community.
Dear Clifton Parents,
This week, our entire school celebrated Arbor Week with enthusiasm as students joined Mr. Quinn in planting trees across our campus. Watching their excitement as they contributed to our 100-year vision for Clifton was truly inspiring. This effort marks an important step in our long-term strategy to transform our school grounds into a sustainable and engaging environment. One where children can love being children!
Dear Parents,
Investing can often feel overwhelming. When you first put money into an investment, there’s a temptation to scrutinize the monthly statements, hoping for immediate growth. However, any financial expert will tell you that investments don’t work that way.
Dear Parents,
This week, I’d like to share a personal reflection from a recent moment watching my son play cricket. As I stood among the many parents, loyally supporting our children’s sporting endeavors, I took a step back to consider his character—both on and off the field. It reminded me that sports offer an incredible opportunity not just to witness our children’s growth but also to actively participate in shaping their character.
Honouring the Women in Our Community
Dear Clifton Family,
As we celebrate Women’s Day this week, I want to take a moment to honour and appreciate all the incredible women in our Clifton community. You are the heart and soul of our homes, the ones who set the temperature inside, turning a house into a home with your love, care, and unwavering strength.
Dear Clifton Notties Community,
As we progress through another exciting term, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the incredible opportunities that our school tours provide for our children. These experiences go beyond the classroom, offering unique and valuable lessons that contribute significantly to the development of our children's character and resilience.
Dear Clifton Notties Parents,
I hope this newsletter finds you well and filled with the joy and excitement that a new week brings. This week, I am thrilled to share highlights from one of my favourite days of the year, which took place this past week – the Grade 0 Dad's Evening.
Dear Clifton Notties Community,
Welcome back to the start of the third term! It has been an energetic start filled with great excitement, especially as we sent our Grade 7 children off on their long-awaited Botswana tour. This adventure is a wonderful opportunity for exploration and learning, and we eagerly await the stories they will share upon their return.
It began with a bell. Tristan Aubert (Class of 2001), together with his wife, Nanette, recently paid us a visit. Walking around campus and reminiscing with Tristan was so very refreshing… a wonderful reminder of what was, and what still is at Clifton. It was also important to view the growth of our facilities through new eyes, and those of a very impressed past pupil.
Katie Polkinghorne (Clifton 2008) is fondly remembered as a noteworthy pupil who made the most of every opportunity made available to her, and in every facet of school life. Always positive, she was a gregarious young lady, and an exceptional sportswoman… she even played cricket for the school. Katie went on to complete her schooling at St Anne’s in 2013. The embodiment of the spirit of uBuntu, and still with the same effervescence and positivity, she is taking part in the 50km Ultra Trail Scramble in Arizona, USA, to raise funds for the #MilesforMandisa Fund. This provides bursaries for South African girls to attend St Anne’s DSG. What an example to us all.
