isiZulu Day - 6 September
On Friday, our school celebrated a vibrant Grade 3 Zulu Day, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Zulu people. The event was a huge success, thanks to the tireless efforts of our staff, students, and special guests.
The day's entertainment kicked off with thrilling performances by Molo and friends from the estates, who entertained the kids with their energetic Ukugida (Zulu traditional dance), Inkondlo (poems) and Gumboot dances. Mr. Chapata mesmerised the audience with his soulful mbira playing, while our talented Grade 7 students had everyone moving with their Amapiano dance routine. Some of our Grade 3 students also showed off their moves to music from different cultures, highlighting the diversity and inclusivity of our school.
But it wasn't just about the performances – our kitchen staff outdid themselves with a mouth-watering isiZulu meal that left the children (and staff!) in awe. The menu featured an array of traditional dishes, including ujeqe, uphuthu, amaheu, and a stunningly decorated isiZulu cake.
A special mention goes to our master of ceremonies, Justin Kuffal, who kept the day running smoothly and ensured everyone had an amazing time. We also extend our gratitude to our IT team, Mr. Stagg and Cameron Stagg, for their technical expertise and support, and Mr Kalika for all the assistance with the setting up of the MPC for the event.
Well done to everyone involved in making our Grade 3 isiZulu Day such a memorable and enjoyable celebration!
