The recently concluded athletics season at Clifton Prep was marked by exceptional performances and unwavering team spirit.
The much anticipated Inter House Athletics meeting took place on a beautiful day, filled with excitement and competitive spirit. The students showcased their athletic prowess across a wide range of events, earning trophies, breaking records, and representing their Houses with great enthusiasm.
The boys' hockey season has been a remarkable journey of growth and determination. Being afforded with an opportunity to play mainly on astro, our players have made impressive progress, showing dedication to their training and passion for the game.
As the soccer season draws to a close, we reflect with immense gratitude on the efforts and passion shown by everyone involved. This season has been a testament to the dedication of our coaches, the enthusiasm of our players, and the unwavering support of parents who cheered both at home and away games.
Term 3 saw our Boys tennis teams put in a strong performance across all age groups, demonstrating resilience and sportsmanship throughout the season. Under the leadership of captain Nicholas Davies and vice-captain Brett Roberts, the boys showed remarkable teamwork and skill in their matches.
This term, our tennis players have shown incredible enthusiasm and dedication on the courts. The under-9s have worked hard on improving their hand-eye coordination and footwork, and their progress has been evident in each session. Seeing how much they've developed over the season has been wonderful.
Mini Hockey
We have played in 5 mini hockey festivals this term. It has been wonderful to see the progress made by all the boys. At this level, our focus is to instill a love of sport. The progress from grade 1 to grade 2 is evident in the way their positional understanding grows and their skills develop. The competitive years will still come. I am very grateful to the coaches for their time and patience. We have had a very exciting, fun filled season.
Mini Soccer
As we conclude this term of mini soccer, it's impossible not to feel a deep sense of gratitude and excitement for the progress our girls have made. After a term of mini hockey, the return to soccer was met with enthusiasm, energy, and a strong desire to learn. The girls carried over the structure and discipline they developed in hockey, along with a growing sense of teamwork and ball movement.
The Junior Primary Chess club has grown in both numbers and skills. Although their bodies are small, their minds are developing thinking strategies whilst conquering their opponents on the chessboards. The classroom is a noise and bustle with conversation, and enthusiasm for this intellectual game.
Term 3 was both busy and highly successful for our Clifton Equestrian Centre. We hosted our annual Carnival, which provided a fun-filled day for both horsey and non-horsey children, and our termly recreational showjumping show, where riders showcased their talents.
The Grade 5 tournament was a happy affair with great sportsmanship and some superb squash. As usual we were indebted to our faithful Grade 7s: Gemma Goldie our vice captain who handed out all the prizes, Sophie Lepart, Liam Muller and Cayden Flockhart. A fun and memorable morning for all!
Clifton Durban recently hosted the Prep Schools Hockey Festival, featuring 14 top prep schools, including St Stithians, Grey PE, Rondebosch, Merchiston, and Selborne. The event showcased some of the best young hockey talents in South Africa.
The Clifton Term 3 Recreational Showjumping Show was a huge success! The children had an amazing time, with impeccable attendance from both participants and supporters. A huge congratulations to all our riders, who have demonstrated beautiful, safe, and competitive riding throughout the event. Our trusted Clifton ponies performed exceptionally well, as always, contributing to the wonderful atmosphere.
The Clifton Carnival was a resounding success, bursting with fun, games, and contagious energy! From start to finish, the event was a whirlwind of laughter and excitement, thanks to the incredible support and enthusiasm from everyone who joined us.
Our U11A Boys’ Hockey team had a fantastic festival at Maritzburg College a few weekend ago. The level of hockey was high, which allowed for our boys to be pushed to a new level of play.
The recent school holidays saw the Keith Fairweather Hockey Festival, a two-night event that brought together our open girls and boys hockey teams for a fun-filled weekend. The festival offered a fantastic opportunity for our players to showcase their skills, learn new ones, and make memories.
