Heritage Day - 9 September

Monday's assembly was a feast for the eyes. The chapel was awash with our children and staff in a real fruit-salad of cultural and traditional dress, all worn with a palpable sense of pride - a striking contrast to the misty greyness that the weather dished up! How heartening to know that our future world leaders are so deeply rooted in their heritage, and the shared heritage of the school, too. A variety of tartans, khaki, and the ubiquitous Bok jerseys intermingled with traditional Xhosa, Sotho, and Zulu outfits.

What a topic for respectful conversation and learning!

Having several Grade 7s translate the 4 verses of the National Anthem for us added to the shared identity of the school, underpinning our values of Ubuntu and respect, especially.
