Clifton Prep Hosts St Katherine’s Girls School for Marimba Workshop - 3 August
The Expressive Arts Centre was alive with the melodic sounds of marimbas on Saturday afternoon, as we hosted a vibrant and engaging marimba workshop for students from St Katherine’s Girls School.
The event began with each school showcasing their unique musical pieces, filling the air with harmonious rhythms and enthusiastic energy. Following these performances, Mr. Chapatha led a collaborative workshop where the boys and girls were put through their paces, practising scales and various marimba techniques. The highlight of the workshop was a unified performance of the song 'Makheba,' which brought together the talents of all the participants.
Throughout the visit, there was a wonderful spirit of collaboration and camaraderie. Friendships were formed, and talents were shared as the children worked together to perfect their musical skills.
After the workshop, the excitement continued as our students took the girls from St Katherine’s to enjoy some time on our obstacle course. The children had great fun and shared in a spirit of teamwork and friendly competition.
Overall, the marimba workshop was a resounding success, fostering both musical talent and lasting friendships between the students of Clifton Prep and St Katherine’s Girls School. We look forward to many more such enriching and enjoyable events in the future.
