To Live Would Be An Awfully Big Adventure! (Peter Pan)

For the past several years, the Mindess EDP students have been participating in periodic "adventures." This year, however, they are a daily occurrence at attendance time, and the students and staff at Warren have joined in the fun several times a month at Warren as well. An assumption of Adventure Learning is that "adventures can take place anywhere there is an element of surprise." and a willing to embrace the "Experiential Learning Cycle", perfectly summarized by the Chinese philosopher Lao-tzu, "I hear, and I forget. I see, and I remember. I do, and I understand." (Project Adventure) Embedded in this approach is that "students are encouraged to take risks, not necessarily physical risks", but to adopt the attitude of I'll try rather than I can't. Our focus this year is Social Emotional Learning, and activities are structured in such a way as to foster the growth and development of the five core competencies of SEL - Self Awareness, Self Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision Making. While all this might sound very cerebral, students have been engaged in such activities as Partner Shoe Tying, Don't Touch Me (a personal space game),  and Giants/Wizards/Dwarves.  By the end of the year, Mindess students will have had approximately 30 hours of SEL embedded into their afternoons, and the Warren staff and students will be well on their way!

For this activity you need to find a partner. No "odd-even" for us, though!

Can you find someone who is exactly the same height as you?
