The Dramatic Play center at the Pittaway EDP focused on SHARKS for the month of November. Mrs. Pratt, a teacher at our program, arranged to have Mary Ann from the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy come and visit our students this week.
The children learned so many fascinating facts about sharks. Did you know that not all sharks are big? One volunteer stood up and Mary Ann showed us with her tape measure that some sharks are shorter than us!
The students also worked together to complete a 15 ft. great white shark puzzle. All 20 students were able to fit on the shark puzzle-it was that big!
Mary Ann also brought a megalodon tooth. A megalodon is an extinct species of shark. It was the largest shark ever documented. Mrs. Briss was very excited to hold it!
Mary Ann closed her program with ways we can help keep sharks safe, like picking up trash on the beach.
The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy is located in Chatham, MA.
