Africa takes up residency at EDP!

April has been an exciting month for Mindess EDP, beginning with an art installation from the Gallery of African Art in Clinton.

We were loaned 10 pieces of art to display throughout the school which whet our appetite for things to come!

On the early release day of 4/16 over 60 students participated in a series of drumming workshops,

learning about and having the opportunity to play djembes, dun duns, and caxixi (a type of shaker).

Even Ms. McGillicuddy, Mindess music teacher, joined us for a workshop!

Following the workshops, we were joined by the Pittaway EDP, Warren EDP, parents and siblings for an amazing concert

put on by the Crocodile River Music's world-class performers. We were treated to a trip around the globe exploring

the influence that African music has had on music around the world including Europe, South America, and the Caribbean.

As if all of that wasn't enough, this amazing experience was made possible because of a

grant for 50% of the cost given to us by The Sunhill Foundation!
