Good morning,
As the school year comes to a close this week, I would be remiss if I did not let you know how amazing the EDP families have been over the past three months. I cannot imagine what life has been like for all of you - juggling work, remote learning, isolation, anxiety, possible job loss, possible illness, and I'm sure sometimes, just plain boredom. I imagine that managing your children's emotions, along with your own, has not been easy at times, and sometimes very overwhelming.
Despite all of the upheaval, I can honestly say that I did not receive one single complaint or negative email from any parent. In fact, it was quite the opposite! The emails I received were filled with concern for the EDP staff and for our health and mental well being. Families checked in on a regular basis and always expressed appreciation for the efforts the staff was making to stay connected with all of our families. This reassured the staff that we were on the right track and encouraged everyone on our end.
The relationships we share with our EDP families have always been extraordinarily unique and special, but the past three months proved this in a way that I could never have envisioned. I am in touch with many other after school directors through the Network of Extended Day Directors, and I can tell you that not all staff are as fortunate as we are.
On behalf of all of the EDP staff, thank you for making this journey so much more uplifting that it might have been. Thank you for your care and concern, for welcoming us into your homes via zoom, and for all of the touching emails, cards, and letters that we've received. We are looking forward to seeing all of you again under better circumstances and viewing this in the rearview mirror.
Until then, know that we are thinking of all of you, planning for a great reunion in September, and will be in touch over the summer as plans are finalized. I am on the Reopening Task Force with Superintendent Adams, and Mrs. St. Pierre and Mrs. Brissenden will be included in their specific buildings.
I'd also like to express my appreciation to all of the staff who stayed connected and engaged through this crazy time. I know the students enjoyed receiving their letters and seeing them on zooms, in read alouds, and videos. We could not have sustained this without their commitment!
Thank you, once again, for your support. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything over the summer.
Sincerely,
Miss Melissa
