Pastoral Work
At Noel Park, we aim to provide a welcoming atmosphere where staff and children work together to create a happy, secure, caring and stimulating environment. This will be in partnership with parents, governors and the wider community. At Noel Park ALL children are given the opportunity to achieve their full potential, to develop responsibility, self-esteem, respect for others and their environment. This will be achieved through a broad and balanced curriculum with high quality teaching and learning experiences. We encourage creativity and co-operation as well as value and celebrate individual efforts.
We are dedicated and committed to working closely with our families to:
provide pastoral support for pupils and families
monitor attendance and punctuality providing practical support
advise parents on behaviour strategies and parenting skills
liaise with relevant professionals and individuals, e.g. educational psychologists, early help, school counsellor
help with transition for parents and pupils moving on to secondary school
ensure the physical and emotional welfare of all pupils and their families
Pastoral support
All parents want their children to be safe and happy at school. The importance of pastoral care goes well beyond this, however. Education and health are closely linked, and recent studies have shown that pupils with better health and wellbeing are likely to achieve better academically. What is more, life skills, such as those taught in a successful PSHE (personal, social, health and economic) programme, are associated with greater wellbeing and higher achievement. We believe that good pastoral care in school is fundamental to the development of character and social skills, which will be of critical importance to pupils in later life. Our pastoral care goes far further than a basic commitment to welfare, with pastoral care extending to every aspect of school life in order to foster pupils’ personal development as much as their academic progress.
Noel Park offers in house support which include food packages, supermarket vouchers, a clothing and uniform bank, wrap around care, housing support, free ESOL classes and also run a number of workshops around current issues including safeguarding, mental health and the local community. It is the essential foundation upon which learning can take place.
