Year 5

Gunnersbury Park Victorian School

23rd April 2024


On Tuesday 23rd April 2024 the children in Quince and Rosewood Classes, Year Five, travelled to Gunnersbury Park Museum near Acton Town. Further developing their knowledge of the Victorian era, they all took part in an immersive and interactive classroom experience. Wearing authentic costumes they completed lessons based around the three R's (reading, writing and arithmetic) and also experienced the strict discipline and harsh punishments that Victorian schoolchildren had to suffer. The workshop was informative and fun and is thoroughly recommended. They also had time to explore the museum and park and everyone had a brilliant day.

Year 4

Science Museum

22nd March 2024


Year 4 children thoroughly enjoyed their trip to the Science Museum. At the venue the children explored the exhibitions and interacted with hands on apparatus. There was a focus on the medicine, bodies and treatment galleries to consolidate their understanding of the unit about animals including humans, which they studied during the Autumn term. 

Eco Council

Waltheof Gardens - Trees for Cities

20th March 2024


Our Eco Council members took part in a tree-planting workshop in Waltheof Gardens in Tottenham. Once the children were ready and prepared, they enthusiastically dug holes and carefully placed each sapling in the ground, ensuring they were planted properly. As they worked together, they learned about the importance of trees in improving air quality, providing habitats for wildlife, and creating a more pleasant environment for the community. The workshop was not only a fun and educational experience for the Eco Council members but also a valuable lesson in the importance of environmental stewardship and community involvement. They left Waltheof Gardens with a sense of accomplishment and a deeper appreciation for the impact they can have on their local area.

Wolves Lane Centre 

19th & 20th March 2024


Reception had an amazing time at Wolves Lane Community Garden -  a thriving space for sustainable growing, education, social enterprise and community engagement. The children loved exploring soil, planting a sunflower seed and discovered a palm house! They also tasted fresh herbs which was a very stimulating experience!

Year 6

Wightman Road Mosque

19th March 2024


Year 6 visited the London Islamic Mosque in Wightman Road on Tuesday and the children learnt a lot from their time there. The children were able to learn more in depth knowledge about Islam that built on their RE lessons in school. They were told all about the 5 pillars of Islam as well as some of the traditions and values that are an important part of the religion. We were shown around the mosque including the different prayer rooms. Some of the children in the year group who are Muslim then demonstrated to the rest of the year group how they pray when they come to the mosque. The trip was extremely interesting and informative and the children learnt a lot. 

Year 3

Science Week: Lights Workshop 

14th March 2024


Year 3s became scientists and took part in an exciting lights workshop. They completed 10 different experiments that explored different aspects of light, such as refraction and reflection, and even made a hologram! After completing the experiments, the children received a certificate and a “King’s Factor” badge, and all the classes received a special puzzle which showed a fun fact about light when complete! The children were able to apply what they have learned from their science lessons and the workshop was a great way to finish off the unit on lights.

Reading Bloggers

Pickled Pepper Bookshop 

13th March 2024


Our reading bloggers had an exhilarating visit to the Pickled Pepper Bookshop in Crouch End. The visit began with an interview with the bookshop owner where the children asked lots of insightful questions. The children were in absolute amazement to find out that some of their all time favourite authors had also visited the bookshop in recent months and years. As part of their visit, the children also had the chance to choose a book to take back to school and experienced a live blogging session where they wrote a review based on the book they chose. Year 3

Gunnersbury Park Museum

23rd February 2024


Year 3 went on an exciting trip to Gunnersbury Park to consolidate our learning about The Romans. The children got to explore primary and secondary sources, act out scenes as significant people like Queen Boudicca and Julius Caesar. The children really enjoyed getting to show off their Roman knowledge and make links to our current topics. Like did you know? In the Roman times they used olive oil as sunscreen?  

Year 6

Ancient Greece Workshop

7th February 2024


The children took part in a range of activities including drama, freeze frames, and even created a human museum displaying different statues and gods from the Ancient Greek times. The children then took part in ‘God’s got talent’ where they had to perform and share facts with the class about a certain god.

The children learned a lot from the day and really enjoyed the workshop!

Year 5

We Will Rock You Performance

6th February 2024


Year Five were lucky enough to attend an exclusive primary school performance of the musical We Will Rock You. This was performed by drama students at Heartlands High School. It was an amazing opportunity for the children to be exposed to the performing arts and experience a live show. 


The show was 150 minutes long including an interval and the children were incredibly impressed by all of the performances, singing, dancing and acting talent on display. They gave the production rave reviews and hope to see more shows like this in the future. Thank you to Heartlands High School and Mr D. Amos (Head of Arts Faculty/Drama) for the invitation. 

Year 1

Westminster Abbey 

6th February 2024


Year 1 students had an exciting day at Westminster Abbey, where they explored its fascinating history. With a checklist in hand, they searched for interesting features and learned about some key artefacts or elements related to Christianity. They were particularly intrigued by the coronation chair, guessing what it was made of and discussing its importance during Queen Elizabeth II's and future King Charles III's coronations. Additionally, they had discussions about the history of Queen Mary I and Queen Elizabeth and their significance in the history of the UK. Excited and enriched, they left with memories of a memorable adventure.

Metropolitan Police Visit

6th February 2024


The children enjoyed an unforgettable visit from the police force. They had the opportunity to ask lots of questions about a police officer’s role and were even granted special permission to explore the police van! Our favourite part was sitting behind the wheel and setting off the siren!



Year 2

Great Fire of London Workshop

26th January 2024


Year 2 immersed themselves in history as they went back in time to re-enact the night of the Great Fire of London. The children enjoyed getting into character with a history workshop that uncovered the Great Fire of London timeline, key characters, and how this disaster made 1666 a year to remember!

Tottenham Fire Brigade Visit

15th January 2024


As part of their Spring 1 Transport and Travel topic this term, Nursery and Reception had a wonderful visit from the Tottenham Fire Station. The children were really excited to learn about the fantastic job of the firefighters and the great work they do in our community. They loved learning about the fire truck which includes a variety of different tools that are used during a call-out, and were also lucky enough to use the water hose too!

School Choir

Performance at Alexandra Palace

13th December 2023


Following their dress rehearsal at the Christmas Fair, our amazing choir had the opportunity to perform at Ally Pally East Court for the Haringey Christmas Festival. Their fantastic performance of I Can’t Sit Still really stole the show and they represented Noel Park wonderfully throughout the evening. It was a really lovely way to get into the festive mood!

Grace Baptist Church

10th November 2023

After a very successful food drive, our wonderful school council visited Grace Baptist church for the first time this year to help sort and organise the donations. They really enjoyed seeing the results of their hard work and the impact it is having on the local community.

Vue Cinema

7th & 8th November 2023


We were very lucky enough to be taking part in the Into Film Festival again this year which is a UK-wide celebration of film and education for 5-19 year olds. The children had a great opportunity to visit the cinema to watch a film premiere. The new film titles included Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie. The children were thrilled to see their favourite characters on the big screen!

Alfred Findley House

November 2023


A group of children from across the school got out in the community to showcase their talents for the residents of Alfred Findley House. From singing to poetry performance, the children did a fantastic job entertaining the residents and have already been invited back for future performances.

Wood Green Library

November 2023


Reception children went on a short trip and visited the local library in Wood Green where they were able to discover new books and learn how to loan and return books. They listened to a story during circle time and had the opportunity to choose exciting books to take home using their new library cards.

Owls Visit

20th October 2023


Early Years were so excited for their visit from Falconry UK. They had prepared lots of questions and had the opportunity to learn all about owls, kookaburras and hawks! Some of the children were unusually brave and even held one of the owls!

Year 3

Rocks and Fossils Workshop

19th October 2023


Year 3 children got hands-on with rocks and fossils (and soils) in this workshop. We examined, compared, described, identified, classified and drew a wide variety of specimens. We really enjoyed ourselves and had lots of questions for Dr Helen. 

Year 5

The Courtauld Institute 

18th October 2023


On 18th October, Year 5 went on a memorable art journey through the Courtauld Gallery. Immersed in the world of Claude Monet, Edouard Manet, and Georges Seurat, they dived into an engaging impressionism workshop. With watercolours and the pointillism technique, they had a fantastic time crafting some mesmerizing artwork.

Year 4

London Zoo 

18th October 2023


As part of Year 4’s topic of ‘Animals including Humans’, they visited London Zoo on the 18th October 2023. This trip was a fantastic opportunity for the children to see animals they are not usually exposed to in day-to-day life. They had a fantastic time seeing some of the animals they have been learning in class and learning more about how they interact with each other,

Year 1

Bruce Castle Toy Workshop

16th - 18th October 2023


Year 1 travelled to Bruce Castle Museum to take part in a History of Toys workshop. We were able to handle and play with a selection of toys including some modern examples and some over one hundred years old! We sorted them by age and by the materials that were used to make them. We were given the opportunity to draw and describe our favourite example before finally making and decorating our own cup and ball toy to take home. 

Year 6

British Museum

13th October 2023

On Friday, year 6 went on a trip to the British Museum which linked with the children's learning on the topic of Ancient Benin this half term in history. The children were very excited to see the Benin bronzes in person after learning so much about them. We were also able to see many other artefacts from the Benin time period including the carved sculptures of animals which the children had learned held great importance and significance in Benin as they were symbols of the power of the Oba. The children were extremely well behaved, had a brilliant time and learned lots on their trip!

Hornsey Girls: Matt Lucas Author Event

28th September 2023

Year 5 visited Hornsey Girls last week, where television personality and comedian Matt Lucas hosted an extra special author event all about his new book - The Boy Who Slept Through Christmas. The children had a fantastic time meeting Matt and asking questions about his career as an author.

Year 5

KPMG Maths Workshop

26th September 2023

We took some lucky children from year 5 to world-leading finance firm, KPMG for an exciting morning of workshops and talks! We explored how to use maths in the real world and discussed how we use numbers in our everyday lives like calculating how much time it will take us to do certain tasks, how many litres of petrol we may need to run a car, working out how much money we need to pay in taxes and dividing delicious things like bags of sweets and pizzas!

Houses of Parliament

18th September 2023

Our first trip of the academic year was a visit to the Houses of Parliament for our newly elected School Council representatives. The children had a great time touring the building and finding out more about the House of Lords and the House of Commons. They realised that their role as representatives of their school's student body was just as important as the elected officials they had met and learned about. They understood that their voice had the potential to make a difference not only in their school but in society as a whole, and are now really excited to see the impact they can have on both Noel Park and the local community over the course of this year.

Year 5

St Thomas More Schools Football Competition

30th June 2023

On Friday 30th June Noel Park took part in the St Thomas More Schools mixed 6-aside football competition, whereby 3 boys and 3 girls always had to be on the pitch. This Level 2 competition is always a competitively contested event and this year was no different. For all the children involved this was their first experience of Level 2 sport and they demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship. 

Quince Class

Google STEM Workshop

23rd June 2023

Quince Class joined a team from Google who visited Noel Park to run a Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths workshop. They were able to build circuits and use their coding skills to design and build remote controlled cars before racing them. The children thoroughly enjoyed their time and were able to build on and develop a number of skills related to science, maths and computing.

Year 2 

Kew Gardens

22nd June 2023


Year 2s got the opportunity to visit Kew Gardens to have a look at all the different plants as part of our science topic. We started off with discovering rare plants in the world's largest Victorian  glasshouse, home to 1,500 species of plants from Africa, Australia, New Zealand, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific Islands. We then  wandered through the stunning Rose Garden and inhaled the scent of hundreds of roses. We absolutely loved travelling from the deserts to the tropics with a walk through the glassy wonderland of the Princess of Wales Conservatory where we managed to spot the Venus flytraps and the spiky cacti but our favorite was the Waterlily House. We were surrounded with colourful giant Amazon water lilies, ferns and an array of other colourful plants in this glasshouse.

Zoology Workshop

23rd June 2023

Our Early Years children loved meeting all the visitors from Zoo Lab, who included Barbara the tree frog and Mr Jangles the snake. They enjoyed getting to act out ’we’re going on an animal hunt’ and learned some amazing fun facts about millipedes, tarantulas and corn snakes.

Year 5 & 6

Cuffley Activity Centre Residential 

19th - 21st June

Our Year 5 and 6 pupils had the opportunity to attend a residential camping trip at Cuffley Active Learning Centre. The children faced many fears and pushed themselves out of their comfort zone whilst on their adventure. They spent their days orienteering, fire building, climbing and abseiling, learning the value of teamwork when building bridges and racing karts, competing in axe throwing and archery, toasting smores around their camp fire and finally perfecting the art of camouflaging. Sleeping in canvas tents under the stars was an incredible experience for the children with many of them saying they couldn’t wait to go again! A very huge thank you to our Friends of Noel Park for contributing towards the trip and supporting our families; we couldn’t have done it without you.

Literary Festival @ Pickled Pepper Books

20th June 2023

Fig Class and Iroko Class were invited by Pickled Pepper Books to a Literary Festival in Horsey Library to celebrate Independent Bookshop Week. We were able to meet Fiona Lumbers, a local author who was able to read to us her new book, Clem And The Crab. After a question and answer session, Fiona taught everybody how to draw a crab. Finally every child received a free copy of Clem And The Crab to take home.

Walthamstow Wetlands

Beech class really loved their trip to Walthamstow Wetlands. Children enjoyed exploring the surroundings, looking for bugs and pond dipping. Thank you to families that accompanied us on this adventure; it was great fun

Lordship Recreation Ground

17th May 2023

Year 1 completed the walk to and from Lordship Recreation Ground as part of our Healthy Living Week. While we were there, we explored the area and were able to take part in a Forest School lesson; a plant and animal hunt; a healthy picnic; and of course some healthy playtime.





Year 5

KPMG Maths Masterclass

17th May 2023

As part of our partnership with KPMG, selected Year 5s were invited to the KPMG Maths Masterclass on 17th May. The conference-style class was delivered by a facilitator from The Royal Institution, and supported by KPMG volunteers. The topic for the session was 'Recreating Islamic Geometric Patterns' and our lucky students were introduced to mediaeval geometric patterns from Europe to India and discovered the 'mathematics' in the designs. It was a fantastic opportunity to experience how mathematics meets art, design, history & culture. A great day out for our mathematicians!

St Paul's Cathedral

4th May 2023

Year 3 really enjoyed their trip to St Paul’s Cathedral – our guided tour was a great way to connect with the Cathedral. We were led by expert guides who took us on a journey through the rich history of St Paul’s and even gave us a chance to explore parts of the Cathedral typically inaccessible to the public.

Walthamstow Wetlands

3rd May 2023

Cedar Class had an amazing time at Walthamstow Wetlands this week. We had the opportunity to explore animals that live there and found creatures such as newts and mayflies during our fun pond dipping session. Cedar Class loved having a bug hunt and observing plants during our nature walk. Thank you to all our families who were able to join us for this visit!

Year 5

London Aquarium

23rd March 2023

This term, during humanities lessons, Year 5 have been studying the Antarctic and to further enrich their learning the children visited Sea Life London Aquarium. They thoroughly enjoyed exploring the amazing habitats of the underwater world and were especially excited by the shark reef encounter and the gentoo penguins. We all had a great day!!

Gunnersbury Park

Year 3 got to discover what life in Roman Britain was really like in a fun and interactive workshop at Gunnersbury Park Museum. We explored different aspects of everyday life in Roman Britain – from clothing to food and bathing. We even got to dress up.

Year 2 

London Zoo 

14th March 2023

Year 2 had a wonderful trip to London Zoo. We got to see many different types of animals, some of which we had only ever seen in books and videos! It was a great experience to see them in real life. We even got the chance to stroke some more familiar animals - here we are with our favourite goat!

Whatever the Weather Workshop 

10th March 2023

Year 1 traveled to The National Army Museum to take part in a workshop entitled "Whatever The Weather." This supported our current science and geography topics of Everyday Materials and Weather Warriors. Split into teams we were challenged to build a shelter that was waterproof and able to stand up to a strong wind. We were all able to excel and created some fantastic shelters!

Pizza Making Experience

9th March 2023

Cedar Class had an amazing time making their own pizzas this week. We invited our families to join in with the fun and help us follow our class recipe. We made our own chef hats, performed our recipe using actions for each step, and decorated our pizzas with our families. Our favourite part was taking our hot pizzas home at the end of the day. Buon appetito! 

Beech Class

Pizza Express

9th March 2023

Beech Class had a great time being chefs at Pizza Express. We learned about the history of making a margherita pizza, inclugin how it originates from Naples in Italy. Our families and Pizza Express staff helped us spread tomato sauce, add cheese and create our own margherita pizzas. We had so much fun!

Year 4

Kidzania Careers Fair

8th March 2023

On Wednesday 8th March, Year 4 children attended the careers festival at Kidzania in Shepherds Bush. Kidzania London is an interactive, indoor city made for kids aged 4-14. From an airline pilot to a surgeon, firefighter to radio DJ, children can work, play, earn and learn whilst having fun in a range of role play activities. All of the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and they also had the opportunity to talk to a range of industry professionals. 10 out of 10 and we will definitely be returning soon.


Year 3

Animal Aspirations Workshop

1st March 2023

University students at the Royal Veterinary College led our Year 3s in a fascinating interactive workshop. Our students learnt the ways animals can be treated by a vet, including working through how to diagnose a broken bone and how to conduct a clinical exam. They got the chance to bandage an animal using animal models. But the most popular part of the workshop by far was when they got to meet Leia (the dog volunteer!) and listen to her heart rate with a stethescope. Leia really enjoyed all the extra attention from students and staff alike. Animal Aspirations' goal is to increase and encourage ethnic diversity within veterinary medicine and other animal-related careers. They might have recruited some of our students already, with one pupil saying she hadn't been interested in becoming a vet, but now she is!

Year 5 

British Museum 

26th January 2023


During their history unit this term our year 5 children have been learning about Ancient Egypt, to enhance their experience of this topic they visited the British Museum on Thursday 26th January 2023. At the venue the children explored and sketched the artefacts on display and were amazed by the afterlife exhibition.


Year 1

Bruce Castle 

24th and 25th January 2023

Year 1 has been studying the History of Toys. To support this topic we traveled by bus to Bruce Castle Museum to take part in a toy workshop. We were able to look at how some toys, while remaining similar, have been made of different materials at different times. We were also able to look at and play with toys that are no longer popular. Finally we were able to make our own cup and ball toy during a craft session that we were able to take home.  

Year 4

Woodside High Drama Workshop

9th January 2023

On 9th Jan, Woodside High School hosted our Year 4 pupils in a 2-hour, fun-packed drama workshop. Head of Drama Sarah Birks along with selected Year 10 pupils led our pupils in large and small group drama activities. The objective? To re-master traditional fairytales and perform it on their stage under the lights at Woodside High. The pupils got a little taster of ‘physical theatre’ and, impressively, unleashed their creativity with their Year 10 mentors by writing and performing their own version of their fairytale - all within 2 hours. Our children embraced the opportunity wholeheartedly, and left Woodside buzzing about drama and their future at secondary school.

We're Going on a Bear Hunt Theatre Trip 

 January 2023

Reception enjoyed a trip to the theatre. We took a journey on the tube, walked up the hill and watched puppets act ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. We laughed and clapped and enjoyed every minute! Thank you to the families who joined us for our theatre experience!
