Immigrants Get Arrested at US-Mexican Border

  On November 26, 2018, 69 migrants on both the Mexican and US side of the border were arrested for crossing the border illegally. The migrants had been stuck at the border and wanted to get through, so they had organized a peaceful march, but it took a wrong turn and people got hurt. During the process, some people got across the border, where they were arrested.

er. When they reached the border, they split up to seperate ports to try and get through. When they were turned back, some migrants "attempted to breach legacy fence infrastructure along the border and sought to harm CBP personnel by throwing projectiles at them," says Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen said in a statement. As the migrants tried to cross the border, authorities on the US side used tear gas to disperse them and to protect themselves and other migrants from getting hurt.   “They should have better protection and security at the border.” says David, eighth grader. “I think that it’s good that they are protesting. It is unfair that the people say that they are crossing illegally. There are people in this country that came through a long time ago and now have green cards and families here. I, myself, am a latina, so to me, it is very racist that they are not letting the Mexicans through.”  seventh grader Vanessa exclaims passionately.eople running and screaming, including families with young children.The migrants injured some of the border police by throwing projectiles.
