Welcome Ms. DeFranco

It is a new school year and that means, new staff, new students, and more! We have a new english/language arts teacher and she teaches 7th & 8th grade. Her name is Ms. DeFranco. Here are some of the questions that we asked her. These questions will help you get to know her better, and get you prepared for her class.

What?

What do you like to do during your free time?

“What I do during my freetime is playing & listening to music. I also enjoy going to live performances. During Vacations, I enjoy going to Los Angeles, New Jersey, New York, and Sicily. I love traveling, and going on trips and to the beach.”

What made you come to Marina?

“I came to Marina because of the wonderful staff & students. The area is beautiful, near the water, and it is a good commute for me.”

Where are you from?

“I was born and raised in Paterson and North Haledon, New Jersey.”

When?

When did you get your teaching degree?

“I got my degree in the early 90’s and it took me 2 years to get it at California State, Northridge.”

When did you start teaching?

“I started teaching in 1994 at the English Learning Center in Hayward. There were 30 languages spoken. High schoolers and middle schoolers attended and learned English, Science, and Social Studies .”

When do you plan on retiring?

“Who knows?”

Why did you decide to teach Language Arts?

“I love to write and I have a passion for it. I also want to share my passion with others .”
