2019 San Francisco Antiquarian Book, Print and Paper fair/ Flower Market Fair

  If you are interested in comic books, vintage photographs, and want first edition books and much more, come to the 2019 San Francisco Antiquarian Book, Print and Paper Fair which is on February 9, 2019 to February 10, 2019. On Saturdays, it’s open from 9AM-6PM and it opens on Sunday 10AM-5PM. The event will be held by Nancy Johnson. It will be held in the South San Francisco conference center. To enter the event you will have to pay a $12 admission fee, but there is FREE parking. If you are 12 and under you get to go in for FREE. You may not bring strollers into the even. Charging or tipping will not be allowed, your bags and and any heavy clothing you may have will be checked by the entrance. Only service animals are allowed into the event with the person who has the disability. All items you purchase will come with a bag. Arrive 30 minutes before the the event closes if you want to buy something.      

  “It’s a place where you can buy gifts for people and they have popcorn,” from Vanessa Guan. ”I think you can buy books and meet new people at the bookfair, I also think the bookfairs books are expensive. ”Lena a 8th grader.”  

  On Saturday, February 2 at 10:00 am- 8 pm and Sunday, February 3 at 9:00 am - 8 pm, there will be an event called, Flower Market Fair. There are many things to purchase such as flowers, fruits, candies, and festive the lunar new year. This fair has over 120 booths and concessions. The flowers, fruits and candies symbolize many things. Oranges and tangerines represent bountiful happiness, and tangerines with leaves unharmed guarantee that the person’s relationship will be protected. The tangerine with leaves, represent the Newlyweds branching into a family with children.

  Growth is symbolized by flowers and plants. And when a flower blooms on New Year’s day it means you will have a year of success, accomplishment, and many things like that. Without flowers there would be no development of fruits to have seeds for the next generation, is what the Chinese believe, so, it is very important to have flowers and decorations of floral items to start the new year.                                 

  Then, the candies get served in a Harmony tray in eight groups of nine,which represents a long life, or eight, a homonym for good fortune. The many popular candies on the tray are candied melon, it symbolizes growth and good health, red melon seeds which represents joy, happiness, truth, many sons, and sincerity. Two more candies are candied coconut that encourages togetherness and lotus seeds, it represents fertility. This fair has many meaning and symbols which you should get for your house to start the new year off in a great way.
