Brightburn is an upcoming superhero/science fiction/horror film produced by James Gunn and Kenneth Huang. Brightburn is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 24 2019. It is a Superman origin story reimagined as a horror film. It’s about a child from another planet who crash landed on Earth but instead of being a superhero of mankind, he proved to be something much more sinister.

While a couple (Elizabeth Banks and David Denman) attempt to raise the boy to use his powers for good, but an evil begins to grow inside that he later unleashes. “I can’t wait for this movie to be released.” says Isaac Zhu. Fast Company says that although it isn’t an official Superman movie, it walks viewers through every step of Clark Kent’s origin story before taking a left turn.

Critics reviewed the trailer as a “Superman horror movie” due to the similarities to Superman’s origin story. It is produced and financed by Screen Gems, Stage 6 Films, Troll Entertainment, and The H Collective. It will be distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing.
