California Wildfires

California wildfires has been a big problem in recent times. The California Government is doing everything they can to extinguish the fires.

Ever since the fires started, lots of people have become homeless, and some have even been killed. Some fires start because heavy winds blow down a power line and maybe hits a tree, the fire will start. Fires have made air quality increasingly bad, some days people have to stay indoors due the air quality being too bad to breathe. Firefighters from around California have try to put out the fire, but it not been very effective.  Fires are have still been raging in certain parts of the state such as Northern California. Fires happen in the forest. The trees in the forest cause the fires to keep spreading more and more.

One of the worst fires in California is The Ranch fire located in Mendocino County. This fire itself burned 459,123 acres of land in September, 5 2018. This fire is so bad that it is the size of two fires together “Pg&E should improve their power lines so they don’t cause all these fires” Erica, October 2. Pg&E are being blamed for causing a lot of the Northern California fires. They are facing more than 50 lawsuits.

With all these terrible fires you can might be in that situation. If you are trapped in a house, exit as quickly as possible and try not to grab your valuables. To protect yourself from the smoke drop on the floor and crouch or crawl. If you are in a forest fire go to a clear spot and lie low to the ground. Protect your lungs by breathing the air closest to the ground. Don’t play with fire and stay safe.
