Get TWO pages from a book. RIP carefully
Write TWO found word poems. 6-15 words. Block out the words you won't be using. YES - TWO different ones just like above
Create collage elements for a portrait that somebody who knows you would recognize as you.
Move things around and rearrange them until you find a composition (placement of image components) that is interesting and balanced.
Try things out and get peer feedback (critique on them and record that on a slide) Directions in Schoology
Glue the components down. Make sure not to get glue on tables by using scratch paper under the glue areas.
DO NOT WRITE YOUR NAME ON IT until AFTER the class activity.
Carefully rip two pages out of books (ONLY ones that you have permission to do so from - we have some in the art studio).
ON BOTH SIDES of those pages circle or underline 6-15 words to make a found poem that you could use as an abstract self portrait poem. With FOUR poems to choose from you should find at least TWO that you like.
Pick the TWO poems that you like and block out the words that you won't be using. Two different colors (recommend black and another color).
**Make school appropriate choices**
Make LOTS of different components to use to make your portrait and props that can be used. For example: different sports/instruments/hobbies, favorite hats/hoodies/tshirts/shoes, include different objects that are associated with things that are important to you or people recognize as yours.
You might not use all of the components, but having more to choose from will probably make your image better in the end.
**Make school appropriate choices**
BEFORE you glue ANYTHING down you want to try out different ideas. You will photograph different versions and record peer critique on a Google slide to turn into Schoology.
MOVE components AROUND
TRY different COLORS and COMBINATIONS
