For this project you will design TWO ways to demonstrate your knowledge of negative space using watercolor. Here are 3 techniques to choose from:
Silhouette Scenario (required) Using watercolor instead of collage
A forest of layering (See below)
Propose your own project (Must be approved by Ms. Bailey)
All projects require a page of planning in your Sketchbook including images of what projects you found that interest you (internet - cite where found and paste onto a Google document). Print 1 page only and glue in your sketchbook and then annotate on it to plan your work. Print out any reference images the size that you need. The paper you will be working on is 9"x12" work may be vertical or horizontal.
Emphasis on Negative Space and Relationship or Narrative between the two figures
Large Figure - Foreground
Small Figure - Background
Figure/Ground Relationship (Subjects not floating) Use Ground Line or Horizon Line
Create at least 3 Layers of similar silhouettes to demonstrate how negative space can be used to show depth. Layering watercolor this way is great too.
If you are proposing a project, remember that the focus must be on layering, negative space, and use of watercolor. Sketchbook - at least 3 images of artwork that inspires you and a well planned final image. If you show your planning to someone they would know how to complete the project to your specifications.
