How can I express ideas of space and rhythm through overlapping ribbons?
Technical Ability: Value through pattern with ink, Overlapping objects, Positive/Negative Space
Media: Pencil (Will all be erased so draw lightly) and Sharpie Pens
Requirements: Creation of 9-12 Shaded Interwoven "Ribbons"
It is open to interpretation, so have some FUN with it!

Steps & Examples of Project
You've created value with pencil, now you'll do so with different INK techniques.
In your sketchbook, experiment with at least 5 different types of shading.
Cross hatching, Stippling, & Scribble are required. See examples of those techniques to the right. The other 2 are up to you! There are handouts in the classroom that you can checkout for ideas.
Set your sketchbook page up as shown below.
Watch this video (yes it's a bit fast, but you can slow it down) and at the start you can see tricks to play around with some overlapping at 35 seconds in.
FILL ONE page of your sketchbook with doodles of overlapping lines and ideas for how you will make this project one that expresses your interests. While you can use the basic idea for the project, it is also your chance to express yourself!
