Based on the work of Alexandra Dillon you will be reinventing a ruined paintbrush!
What will I accomplish?
You will modify a ruined paintbrush and paint a portrait of a dog, cat, or person that you admire using acrylic paint.
How will I go about accomplishing my goal?
Sketchbook - Brainstorm 10 dogs, cats, birds, people that you admire. What if I don't have a pet? Look at the Oakland Animal Services Page
Make a decision about your subject. Get a high quality image of them. Images of people need to be copyright free.
Sketchbook - 6 thumbnails sketches. Do you need to modify your paintbrush? What would make it most like your subject?
Now it's STUDIO TIME!
Start by using pencil and Sharpie to get your image onto your paintbrush. You can stylize, but it should be recognizable as your subject - that's the point of a portrait! Paint, layer, paint, revise, peer critique, and have fun!
