Little Cloud

I wrote the three names on our dry erase board, and I drew a quick sketch of each one

Little Cloud is a very simple picture book, following one little cloud through all kinds of shape changes.

After reading Little Cloud, talked about clouds and about types of clouds. Look out the window to see what you can find.

§ Cirrus clouds are the high, thin, wispy clouds that you can see through.

§ Stratus clouds are the thick, mid-level clouds that coat the sky like a sheet.

§ Cumulus clouds are the puffy fair weather clouds that we see on sunny days.

Lesson Plan Week :

  • The teacher will read the book Little Cloud by Eric Carle.

The teacher will also talk about different kinds of clouds

and what kind of weather they represent.

  • The students will make shaving cream cloud pictures and create sentences to describe their clouds.

  • The students will sort toys that begin with the hard C and T sounds.

  • Share the news: The students will share their cloud pictures.


Lesson Plan Week 2:

  • The students will sort toys that begin with the hard C and T sounds.

  • The teacher and students will retell the story Little Cloud

by Eric Carle using pictures.

  • The students will share their cloud books and talk about the different clouds they found.

  • The students will move around the room like clouds

to music. They will then describe the cloud they are

and draw a picture. They will add a full sentence to

describe their clouds.
